How to Care for a Leather Car Interior

A leather interior lasts a long time when cared for properly. A few simple rules help keep the leather looking good and put off restoration for years.

Regular cleaning

Wipe the leather with a soft damp cloth every one to two weeks to remove dust and dirt. For a deep clean use products made specifically for leather — ordinary household chemicals dry out and damage the finish.

Conditioning and protection

Without care leather loses moisture and cracks. A few times a year apply a leather conditioner — it keeps the leather supple. Premium protectants (Koch Chemie, Colourlock) further shield the surface from abrasion and moisture.

Protect from the sun

UV is leather's main enemy: colour fades and the material dries out. Park in the shade where possible and use window sunshades — this noticeably slows fading.

What to avoid

Do not use alcohol, solvents or abrasive sponges — they strip the protective layer and dye. Do not let stains sit: the fresher the dirt, the easier it is to remove.

When restoration is needed

If wear, cracks or fading have appeared, care will no longer bring the look back — restoration is needed. We rebuild the leather structure and colour, then advise how to keep the result.
